There are five (5) service academies:
- United States Air Force Academy (USAFA)
- United States Naval Academy (USNA)
- U.S.M.A. West Point
- United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA)
- United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA)
Note: A nomination is not required for an appointment to USCGA, which has its own nationwide application process.
Academy nominations are highly competitive, so candidates are encouraged to apply to more than one (1) academy and from more than one (1) nomination source. In addition to this office, other nomination sources include both Florida U.S. Senators and the Vice President (if highly qualified). A candidate may also seek a Presidential nomination if they have a parent(s) with military ties, which makes them eligible.
Each Representative and Senator is permitted to have up to five (5) of their nominees attend each academy simultaneously. Our office may nominate up to ten (10) candidates per academy per year. An academy nomination does not guarantee acceptance. The final decision of academy acceptance rests with each academy’s admissionoffice.
