Washington, DC

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) and Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (R-NY) sent a letter to President Biden urging his Administration to take action against Iran for its involvement in funding, training, and supporting an attack on Israel by the Iran-backed terror groups Hamas and Hezbollah.

This letter specifically calls on President Biden to abandon negotiations to try to re-enter the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, encourages our allies to designate Hezbollah and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist entity, and urges the Biden administration to continue working towards full diplomatic relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia. Importantly, this letter also implores the President to convince our European allies to invoke immediate snapback sanctions on Iran.

We write to urge you to hold Iran accountable for funding, training, and supporting the horrific invasion of Israel; to take direct action against the Iran-backed terror group Hamas that launched this attack; and to deter Hezbollah in Lebanon from opening a second front in the north, if they have not already,” the lawmakers wrote

The lawmakers continued,“The world watched in horror as Iranian-backed terrorists in Gaza launched an attack against Israel. These terrorists kidnapped, killed, raped, and wounded scores of Israeli civilians, including children, women, and the elderly. In the largest single-day massacre since the Holocaust, more than 1200 Jews were murdered in cold blood, including Americans. Countless people have been wounded, and over 100 are being held hostage – reportedly including nearly a dozen Americans.”
