In 2019, Jared was appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis to be Florida’s Director of Emergency Management. As director, he was responsible for disaster recovery efforts throughout the state. Most notably, the response to the COVID-19 pandemic and Hurricane Michael, a Category 5 storm. During the height of the pandemic, Jared established Florida’s testing programs, vaccine rollout, and administered the distribution of millions of personal protective equipment to communities and hospitals across the state.
Having worked on the frontlines when disaster hits, Jared understands the importance of readiness and cutting through red tape. That’s why as a member of Congress, one of the first pieces of legislation he plans to introduce would establish the Federal Management Agency (FEMA) as a cabinet level agency. Through this change, the American people will no longer have to wait on government bureaucracy when a disaster hits.
